Appointment Streamlines Rapid Expansion of Internet of Things Network, Allowing CEO Ludovic Le Moan to Focus on Global Growth Strategies
SIGFOX, the world's premier provider of a cellular network dedicated to the Internet of Things (IoT), is committed to keeping its position as a leader in the rapidly expanding market. This requires SIGFOX to manage growing demand for partnerships on five continents and sign structuring agreements with large industrials around the world.
As result, Ludovic Le Moan, CEO and co-founder of SIGFOX, asked Xavier Drilhon to join the company starting on June 1 as the deputy CEO. This will allow Le Moan to focus on the company's global growth strategies.
"SIGFOX is determined to maintain its position as the world's premier provider of cost-effective, low-power Internet of Things connectivity, and the fast-growing demand for this service around the world requires us to enlist the best people," Le Moan said. "I recruited Xavier Drilhon to join the chief executive office, and bring his considerable industry experience to structure the company and accelerate its international expansion."
Drilhon, 48, previously worked for Oberthur Technologies, a world leader in digital security solutions for the mobility space. Present in 50 countries, with 6,500 employees and a turnover of nearly 1 billion euros, Oberthur operates in a range of sectors, such as telecom, payment, digital identity, transport and access control. As general manager, he helped transform the company from a French provider of smart cards into a worldwide leader in digital security.
"The SIGFOX network is at the heart of the Internet of Things revolution, and the company is on a fast track to become a truly global connectivity provider," Drilhon said. "Its potential is exceptional and should allow it to join the so-called 'unicorns', startups whose valuation exceeds $1 billion. I'm very happy to participate in this adventure and bring my experience and energy to help SIGFOX build on its momentum and grow into the premier global provider of a cost-effective, energy-efficient network dedicated to the Internet of Things."
A graduate of Telecom Sud Paris and of Harvard Business School (PMD 72), Drilhon began his career at Arthur Andersen and KPMG Peat Marwick.
"The $115 million fundraising completed earlier this year gave SIGFOX the financial means to achieve its global ambitions," said Anne Lauvergeon, chairman of the SIGFOX board. "Xavier Drilhon's arrival is a milestone in the development of the company and for the preparation of its IPO."
