Agrinos Biological Crop Inputs Significantly Increased Yield and Profitability for Umoe Bioenergy Sugarcane Operations in Brazil

Application of Agrinos HYT® products on large-scale Brazilian sugarcane operations shows significant return on investment

LYSAKER, Norway and BARUERI, Brazil, July 23, 2015 /PRNewswire/ --The application of Agrinos High Yield Technology (HYT®) biological crop inputs on Umoe Bioenergy large-scale Brazilian sugarcane operations resulted in significant increases in yields. The increase came from substantial increases in both tons of sugarcane produced per hectare and total sugar produced per ton of cane harvested in treated areas.

The commercially available HYT product line was developed by Agrinos AS, a leading biological crop input provider committed to improving the productivity and sustainability of agriculture worldwide.

"We are extremely pleased with the positive response of Brazilian sugarcane to Agrinos biological inputs, and with our very productive partnership with a visionary company such as Umoe Bioenergy," said D. Ry Wagner, CEO of Agrinos. "This is the latest evidence showing our proprietary High Yield Technology products can dramatically impact crop yields, whether they are applied on a large-scale commercial setting with row crops, or on smaller specialty crop operations. The consistent return on investment for our customers has been proven across a very wide range of crops and agricultural production systems around the world."

Agrinos worked in partnership on the sugarcane initiative with Umoe Bioenergy, a Norwegian-owned firm that specializes in producing sustainable bioethanol from sugarcane by utilizing highly cost-effective agricultural production practices. The Brazilian sugarcane venture is the company's biggest investment in renewable energy thus far.

During a period from April to June 2014, three of Agrinos' biological products-HYT® A VitaComplex, HYT® B AminoVita and HYT® C MaisRaiz-were applied at the time of planting to sugarcane on an area of approximately 3,500 hectares. A second foliar application of HYT B was administered by airplane along with an existing spraying practice during October and November 2014. The use of Agrinos' products resulted in a substantial yield increase vs. control fields, based on measurements of both tons of cane produced per hectare and total recoverable sugar content per hectare.

"We share with Agrinos a strong commitment to green technologies, social responsibility and agroindustrial competency, making this partnership a natural fit," said Knut Karlsen, CEO, Umoe Bioenergy. "We are very satisfied with the increases in yield and return on investment from our application of Agrinos biological inputs and see significant potential for future cooperation."

This outcome is the latest of several breakthroughs this year for Agrinos' Brazilian business unit. Agrinos' proprietary HYT crop input products have also been successfully commercialized, and have demonstrated significant increases in crop yields with coffee, eucalyptus, flowers, potatoes and other vegetables in Brazil. Field trials evaluating the impact of HYT products on corn and soybean crops are currently underway based on the successful commercialization and consistent increase in yields realized with the use of Agrinos HYT products with corn and soybeans in the U.S.

Biological Crop Inputs
HYT A VitaComplex, HYT B AminoVita and HYT C MaisRaiz biological-based products from Agrinos have been shown to provide a number of critically important benefits to both plants and soil. Those benefits include boosting the plants' metabolism, immune system and photosynthetic activity to combat abiotic and developmental stress. They also provide a source of "timed-released" nitrogen that is highly bioavailable and complements inorganic nitrogen.
