Paris Convention and Visitors Bureau - The New Cultural Season In Paris: Get The Programme!

PARIS, September 17, 2015 /PRNewswire/ --

Whilst Paris can pride itself on being a destination with an exceptional heritage, the new 2015 cultural season should also once again draw numerous visitors to the capital.

With Picasso at the Grand Palais, Madame Butterfly at the Opéra Bastille, as well as Chagall at the Philharmonie and U2 at Bercy, Paris has a quality line-up that will appeal to all audiences!

PRESTIGIOUS EXHIBITIONS

From 8 September to 3 January 2016, the Institut du Monde Arabe welcomes Osiris, mysteres engloutis d'Egypte (Osiris, Sunken Mysteries of Egypt), an exceptional exhibition that resurrects one of the founding myths of ancient Egypt: the mysteries of Osiris. Then, from 7 October to 29 February 2016, Picasso Mania, at the Grand Palais, invites visitors to discover the different critical and artistic highlights of Picasso's work.

The legendary Andy Warhol returns to the Musée d'Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris, where the exhibition Warhol Unlimited features Shadows, a still relatively little known series by the artist (2 October / 7 February 2016). Lovers of 16th and 17th century art will enjoy the exhibitions Florence, Portraits at the Court of the Medicis, at the Jacquemart André Museum (11 September/25 January) and Fragonard in Love, at the Luxembourg Museum (16 September / 24 January).

In addition to Picasso, the Grand Palais will also be the setting for two major exhibitions: the first (23 September/11 January) will present Elisabeth Vigée Lebrun, a celebrated portraitist and painter at the Court of Louis XVI, and the second, Volez, Voguez, Voyager (fly, sail, travel), signed Louis Vuitton (4 December/20 February). There is something for contemporary art and design buffs too. As well as the Paris Design Week currently taking place (till 12 September) and the eagerly-anticipated Nuit Blanche on the first Saturday in October, there is the FIAC (22 to 25 October). And until November 1st, there is still time to discover the British artist Anish Kapoor in the gardens of the Palace of Versailles.

A MUSEUM TRANSFORMED

After 6 years of renovation work, the Musée de l'Homme reopens its doors to the public on October 17th with a whole new layout and spaces - the result of a unique cultural and scientific project. A new look at the future of the human species and the planet.

A PROGRAM OF ECLECTIC MUSIC

There are all types of music to listen to in Paris this autumn: from the pop sounds of Madonna (10 to 11 December) to the rock sounds of U2 (10 to 15 November) at the new fully-renovated music venue Bercy Arena, not forgetting legendary operatic arias with Madame Butterfly (5 to 13 September) or Don Giovanni (12 September/ 18 October).

The Cirque du Soleil offers an exotic change of scenery with its new show Amaluna (6 November/13 December), whilst the famous musical Cats will top the bill at the Mogador, from October 1st.

IN THE RUN UP TO THE EURO 2016

On the sporting scene, there is a casting of top events in various disciplines at Bercy Arena: the BNP Paribas Masters (2 to 8 November), the Judo Paris Slam (17 and 18 October) and also the Hand Star Game (16 December). Not forgetting, the draw on December 12th for the UEFA Euro 2016 to be held in France in June.

So there is plenty to select from this far from exhaustive list!
