Parallel-opening vent windows are a special solution for glass façades which determine the appearance of many modern prestigious buildings. To preserve the appearance of the building façade even when windows are open and to take safety aspects into consideration at the same time, GEZE has designed a new application for parallel-opening vent windows.
Irrespective of size and weight, parallel-opening vent windows can be automated with the GEZE chain drives Slimchain and Powerchain. The drives are positioned on the inside mounted on the frame with the option of installing up to four synchronized drives. The entire casement moves parallel and outward when the window is opened. This ensures that the appearance of a glass façade is not impaired. At the same time, the parallel opening of the window ensures an efficient air exchange. Cool air is supplied from below and warm, stale air or even smoke is discharged from above.
Furthermore, the Slimchain and Powerchain chain drives and the spindle drive E 250 NT can be used on various window types. They differentiate between alarm (RWA) and normal ventilation mode, in other words a fast and maximum opening or a slow, limited and virtually noiseless opening. The drive stroke with variable adjustment and the individually adaptable opening speed enable usage for smoke and heat extraction as well as on ventilation windows of various sizes and with different opening requirements. If a "smoke and heat extraction event" occurs, these drives can attain very large opening widths in under 60 seconds. With the corresponding locking drive Power lock, they form the GEZE IQ window drives product family with the universal GEZE design.
The GEZE Slimchain drive has been recognized with several awards including the Universal Design Award in 2014 and category awards in both quality and functionality at the Plus X Awards last year.
The integrated, intelligent control unit allows drives to be networked easily. The control unit ensures the sequential and safe opening and closing of the windows as well as the synchronisation of up to three drives. GEZE supplies the drives complete with brackets. In addition to the standard colours, they are also available in any desired RAL colour. With the innovative Smart fix installation system, the Slimchain and Powerchain drives can be installed quickly and easily. The drives are simply "clipped" to the brackets.
So that the windows can be opened and closed safely and no hands are trapped, GEZE fits the safety measures required depending on the place of installation and usage - with the help of sensors or protective bars.
Another specialist GEZE product that can be equipped to operate automated windows efficiently and safely is the new GEZE IQ Box KNX. With a standardised and established KNX bus technology for the building system technology, different components such as heating, lighting, shutters or ventilation can be networked and automated. The IQ box KNX interface enables dialogue between the intelligent GEZE IQ window drives and further KNX-capable components in a building system, such as push buttons and sensors. Windows can be integrated directly into the KNX system for controlled natural ventilation. In contrast to simple bus actuators, the KNX IQ box provides access to the drive intelligence, making it possible, for example, to control and monitor the window position.
