PLYMOUTH, MN -- (Marketwired) -- 02/23/16 -- In partnership with Entropy Solutions, Vesl LLC has added four new containment options for PureTemp phase change material. All four -- MatVesl, CanVesl, TubeVesl and PackVesl -- are designed to transfer thermal energy efficiently in a wide variety of applications, including cold storage, refrigeration, air conditioning, heat recovery and thermal energy storage.
MatVesl
These multi-layer barrier film packages offer MVTR and O2TR protection and are able to withstand rigorous long-term use. They are hermetically sealed to prevent leakage or intrusion. They can be configured up to 46cm (18 inches) wide by nearly endless lengths. A 43cm x 51cm section holds about 1 kilogram (2.2 pounds) of PureTemp 1, 4, 8 or 18.
CanVesl
These sturdy metal PCM devices are designed to withstand great temperature extremes. They are hermetically sealed to prevent moisture and vapor transmission. The coated steel resists corrosion. Each can holds 160 grams (5.6 ounces) of PureTemp phase change material, available in a wide range of temperatures, from -37 degrees C (-34 degrees F) to 151 degrees C (304 degrees F).
TubeVesl
These sturdy metal cylinders are hermetically sealed and able to withstand extremely high temperatures and high pressures. An aluminum coating is designed to resist corrosion. Each cylinder is 30mm in diameter and 165mm in height. Each holds 100 grams (3.5 ounces) of PureTemp phase change material, available in a wide range of temperatures, from -37 degrees C (-34 degrees F) to 151 degrees C (304 degrees F).
PackVesl
These multi-layer barrier film packages are hermetically sealed and designed to withstand long-term use. The square version, 14cm x 14cm, holds about 125 grams of PureTemp 1, 4, 8 or 18. The three-chamber version, 20cm x 38cm, holds 454 grams (1 pound) of PureTemp 1, 4, 8 or 18.
What are phase change materials?
Phase change materials (PCM) are substances that absorb and release thermal energy during the process of melting and freezing. When a PCM freezes, it releases a large amount of energy in the form of latent heat at a relatively constant temperature. Conversely, when such material melts, it absorbs a large amount of heat from the environment. PCMs recharge as ambient temperatures fluctuate, making them ideal for a variety of everyday applications that require temperature control.
