The Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) has awarded Tiger IT Bangladesh Ltd. the contract for "Supply of Personalized Dual Interface Polycarbonate Motor Driving License" cards. Tiger IT has been selected to supply 1.5 million Driving License (DL) cards to BRTA along with installation of personalization printers and handheld devices for DL authentication. Tiger IT will provide related equipment for the personalization center and will also develop an online license application software, that will make the DL application process more efficient for the citizens of Bangladesh.
Mr. Nurul Islam, Director (Eng) of BRTA said, "Over the last couple of years we have been taking substantial steps to overhaul our existing processes to a more robust and transparent system. It is worth mentioning that BRTA is the first to introduce chip-based cards in Bangladesh. Through the introduction of smart card licenses, enrolment of driver and vehicle information, and creating a national database we have been able to fight crimes related to fake licenses on the roads. This project is the second phase whereby we will make our license application and renewal systems online and also automate the payment verification process so that we can provide improved services to our people."
