Lord David Willetts Joins 2U as Strategic Advisor

LANDOVER, Maryland, Aug. 4, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- 2U, Inc. (NASDAQ:TWOU), today announced that Lord David Willetts, the former minister of state of universities and science in the United Kingdom, has joined 2U as a strategic advisor to the CEO. In this role he will provide insights and global perspective to 2U and its leadership as the company works to expand its footprint and impact globally. 2U partners with leading colleges and universities to deliver the world's best online degree programs so students everywhere can reach their full potential. 2U-powered programs have enrolled 21,171 students, inception to date, in all 50 U.S. states, the District of Columbia, and more than 75 countries.

Willetts is currently the executive chairman of the Resolution Foundation and a visiting professor at King's College London. He also serves as the higher education advisory board chair at TES Global, the company behind the world's largest digital community of teachers and the publisher of TES and Times Higher Education (THE). Previously, Willetts was minister for universities and science, attending cabinet, from 2010-2014. He was the member of Parliament for Havant from 1992-2015. Before that he worked at HM Treasury and the Number 10 Policy Unit. He also served as paymaster general in the last Conservative Government. Willetts has written widely on economic and social policy. His most recent book The Pinch was published by Atlantic Books.
