Research and Markets - Global Gynecology Robotic Surgery Market growth at CAGR of 10.07%, 2016-2020: Key Vendors are Intuitive Surgical, Titan Medical & TransEnterix

DUBLIN, Dec 8, 2016 /PRNewswire/ --

Research and Markets has announced the addition of the "Global Gynecology Robotic Surgery Market 2016-2020" report to their offering.

The global gynecology robotic surgery market to grow at a CAGR of 10.07% during the period 2016-2020.

At present, the market is dominated by Intuitive Surgical due to its da Vinci surgical system, though there is intense competition between Titan Medical that developed the SPORT surgical system and Intuitive Surgical. Titan Medical has a high market share in Europe, and it is expected to penetrate the US market by mid-2017 by getting approval for its SPORT surgical system. TransEnterix has developed the ALF-X robotic surgical system, which it acquired in September 2015 through the acquisition of a robotic division of SOFAR S.p.a worth $99.8 million. The company also developed TELELAP ALF-X surgical robotic system, a CE-marked device available in Europe.

The cost of capital equipment increases the cost burden on end users. Hence, companies are coating competitive pricing to increase their market adoption. For instance, hospital saving is one of the key factors that every individual will look for. Hence, the companies are trying to reduce the cost of the robotic platform which in turn decreases the cost of treatment.

According to the report, the limitations involved in open surgeries have driven the adoption of gynecological surgical robots. The open abdomen surgery for gynecology and laparoscopic surgeries require large incisions and longer recovery times, which affect the individual's outcome. Also, the procedure is associated with the increased infection rates and increased blood transfusion rates. Therefore, the surgeons are increasingly adopting surgical robots owing to its benefits over open surgeries. Some of the advantages of surgical robots include, reduction of incision size, fewer blood transfusions, and improved recovery times. Further, the robotic surgery enhances surgeon's skills, reduces variability, and provides opportunities for simulation.

Further, the report states that globally, end-users are gradually adopting robotic treatments in the healthcare sector. The adoption of robotic systems is better in developed countries of the Americas and EMEA. However, the surgeons in developing and emerging countries are still reluctant to choose robotic surgeries. Indeed, the advances in medical robotic systems have increased the prices of these devices, making treatments unaffordable for most patients in developing economies. The device costs approximately $1.50-$3 million depending on the configurations.
