*Senvion wins first deal in Argentina totalling 97 MW
South America becoming a key market after financial close for 299 MW in
Chile*
*Hamburg: *Senvion, a leading global manufacturer of wind turbines, has
secured an agreement for its first partnership in Argentina with EREN
Renewable Energy ("EREN RE") for the supply and delivery of 27 Senvion
3.6M114 NES turbines. The project, developed and owned by EREN RE, was
awarded a PPA in the RENOVAR Round 1 tender in October 2016. A total of
1,142 megawatts (MW) of different technologies were awarded of which 707 MW
were wind projects. The project is still under development and has certain
conditions precedent.
After the planned completion of the project, Los Hercules wind farm will see
a total rated output of 97,2 MW. The wind farm will be built by Senvion on a
full EPC basis. The turbines will be installed at a hub height of 93 meters.
The completion of the project is planned for December 2018. Los Hercules
wind farm will be located in the Deseado department in the southern province
of Santa Cruz and after its completion will be able to supply around 64,000
households with green electricity per year.
*Jürgen Geissinger, CEO of Senvion, said:* "Senvion is expanding
successfully - both in terms of technology as well as in terms of geography.
Los Hercules demonstrates both: We developed the 3.6M114 last year because
we considered it the best turbine for key regions in the world and this
latest agreement proves that the decision was right. At the same time,
Senvion is entering the Argentinian market and herewith strengthens the
newly won position in the Southern Cone of South America."
In April 2016, Senvion announced its first South American project for over
299 MW in Chile that achieved its financial close in August 2017. Senvion
now has an established local presence in the region with offices in Santiago
de Chile and Buenos Aires
*David Hardy, Chief Sales Officer at Senvion, added*: "This positive news
highlights our solid progress within this key market and we have strong
ambitions to build on this success. The second round of the RENOVAR auctions
are now underway and we believe we are well placed, both in terms of
competitive product offering and with our tailored, local approach, to
maximize the opportunities presented from this next phase."
*Fabienne Demol, Executive Vice-President - Global Head of Business
Development at EREN RE, said: *"We are glad to partner with Senvion for this
flagship project, and are convinced of its future successful execution. EREN
RE is a fast-growing global Independent Power Producer with 650 MW of
projects in operation and under construction. Los Hercules highlights our
capacity to offer competitive and best-in-class technical renewable energy
solutions in Argentina, as we hope to further demonstrate in the next few
months in the country and regionally."
The Senvion 3.6M114 was presented at WindEnergy Hamburg 2016. It has an
upgraded power yield of roughly 2.5 per cent compared to the 3.4M114 NES and
is particularly fitting for projects with restricted maximum tip heights at
strong wind locations.
