BCB 2017 to Showcase the Latest Premium Spirits

BERLIN, October 4, 2017 /PRNewswire/ --

On 10 and 11 October, Convent Berlin draws innovative bar pros, beverage experts and craft brewers to the German capital. "The BCB long ago emerged as the industry's most important premium event worldwide," says BCB director Petra Lassahn. "An ever-increasing number of high-quality spirits are first introduced to the professional community right here." Over 370 exhibitors and 1.1000 brands will be present this year. Here's a little taste of what to expect.

Demand for premium spirits is soaring right now. 'Bar visitors have a tremendous amount of knowledge about spirits and cocktails', says Urs Hessenauer, marketing director of Moet Hennessy Deutschland. For example, creations with high-end ingredients are very popular in Germany, he says. 'We're currently witnessing such premiumisation across all categories, from spirits to fillers to champagne'. Among other products, premium liqueurs will be hitting the big time at this year's BCB. One of the choices offered by UK-basedSweetdramis Escubac - a liqueur that revives an extinct style from the 18th century.

The trend of refining premium spirits with so-called 'botanicals' continues in the gin segment, too.The Black Forest BOAR Distilleryfrom Germany will show off BOAR Black Keiler Strength, a gin refined with Black Forest truffles. 'The gin market continues to grow in all directions, with trends toward premiumisation, botanical exploration and innovative flavours being well-known drivers over the last five years,' says Kirsty Williamson from the British gin specialistHayman.

BCB visitors will also be able to discover unusual notes in rums.Schwarze und Schlichtewill be among the suppliers presenting a Caribbean rum; their Barracuda Spiced Rum is refined with fruit extracts and chilli.

Classic brands are putting forward some new innovations: Islay whisky distilleryARDBEGwill present the new Ardbeg AN OA at the BCB.Dogliottiwill for the first time focus exclusively on vermouth at the BCB 2017, bringing along, among other things, the red vermouth 18 / 70, which is made 100 per cent from the Piedmontese red wine Barbera d'Asti Docg.

France will serve as the trade show's Country of Honour for the first time. Featuring the tagline "Made in France - Made with Love", the French group stand in hall 3 (booths H01 and H02) will put the spotlight on modern classics such as gin, fair trade vodka, whisky, cognac, Armagnac, calvados and creme de cassis.
