Sponda Oyj: Sponda among leading Nordic companies in the CDP Climate assessment

Sponda Plc Press release 30 October 2017 at 10:35

Sponda among leading Nordic companies in the CDP Climate assessment

Property investment company Sponda maintained its excellent leadership-level A- score in the annual CDP Climate assessment. Sponda's score was the best in Finland and ranked among the best in the Nordic countries within the Real Estate sector.

"I am pleased that the goals we have set and the measures we have taken to improve the energy efficiency of our properties and reduce carbon dioxide emissions were again recognised in this year's report. The leadership-level ranking in a widely acknowledged climate reporting programme is an impressive achievement and shows that our energy efficiency scheme plays a major role in managing climate emissions in the property business, " says Hannamari Koivula, Sustainability Manager for Sponda.

The assessment is based on a global survey that this year received responses from 1,073 companies. In the Nordic comparison group, 21 companies responded to the survey, with Sponda ranking among the best four of them. Sponda has now reached the leadership level in three consecutive years. This was the sixth time Sponda has participated in the CDP assessment.

"Sustainable development and work to combat climate change has been an integral part of Sponda's operations since 2009, when our energy efficiency scheme was first launched. We carry out a number of measures in our properties to improve their energy efficient and we actively monitor the trends in energy consumption in our properties. In addition to our own energy efficiency scheme, we are also committed to the voluntary energy efficiency agreement made by the Finnish real estate sector for 2017-2015," Koivula says.

CDP produces global reports on companies' efforts to act on climate risks. CDP is a not-for-profit and independent organisation whose climate reports measure companies' greenhouse gas emissions, emissions targets, measures to reduce emissions, business risks and opportunities related to climate change, and reporting on these matters. CDP represents 803 institutional investors that manage over EUR 100,000 billion in assets globally.
