Cambridge researchers have analyzed the benefits of installing a PV system on the roof of an apartment building in addition to energy refurbishment and have found that photovoltaics, especially if combined with heat pumps, makes retrofit projects more affordable. A group of scientists from Cambridge University has investigated the economic benefit of combining a basic energy-efficiency retrofit with the installation of rooftop PV and has found solar arrays help to reduce retrofitting costs considerably.
