SHANGHAI (AFX) - A-shares in Shanghai and Shenzhen closed sharply higher on renewed fund inflows with market heavyweight steelmakers and banks driving the gains, dealers said.
The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index, which covers both A- and B-shares listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange, closed up 42.26 points, or 2.61 pct, at 1,659.55.
Turnover rose to 41.43 bln yuan from 35.56 bln the previous session.
The index moved between 1,610.04 and 1,664.61.
The Shanghai A-share Index added 44.69 points to 1,742.93 on turnover of 41.22 bln yuan and the Shenzhen A-share Index was up 10.52 points at 425.47 on turnover of 23.15 bln yuan.
The FTSE/Xinhua China A 50 Index was up 121.08 points at 5,376.43. The FTSE/Xinhua China A 200 Index rose 99.83 points to 4,016.97 and the FTSE/Xinhua China A 600 Index was up 90.85 points at 3,462.26.
