Lauterach, Austria--(Newsfile Corp. - April 1, 2026) - On April 1, Gebrüder Weiss, a global transport and logistics company with 180 company-owned locations which includes 24 office and warehouse locations in North America, will launch the fifth season of its international cycling campaign, "GWcycles." The sustainability initiative aims to collectively cover 1 million kilometers (approximately 621,000 miles) and in doing so, remove up to 10 tons of plastic waste from rivers and coastal regions.
The concept is straightforward. For every kilometer (0.62 miles) cycled, Gebrüder Weiss funds the collection and proper disposal of 10 grams (0.35 ounces) of plastic waste. The company is once again partnering with Berlin-based environmental company CleanHub to implement the initiative.
"GWcycles shows how easy it is to combine sustainable mobility with tangible environmental action - kilometer by kilometer," says Frank Haas, Head of Corporate Brand Strategy & Communications at Gebrüder Weiss.
Participation is open to everyone worldwide. Distances are tracked via the free Radbonus app, which is compatible with common fitness trackers. Initial rewards are available from as little as 50 kilometers, and all prizes are made from recycled materials.
