JAKARTA (AFX) - PT Bank Permata said its shareholders have appointed Standard Chartered Bank Indonesia chief executive officer Stewart Hall as its new president.
Hall replaced Agus Martowardojo, who has been assigned by the Indonesian government to lead the country's largest bank PT Bank Mandiri.
The shareholders also appointed Standard Chartered Bank group regional head of consumer banking Wilson Chia as a commissioner, replacing Vincent Plant.
"The replacement shows a strong commitment from StanChart-Astra International consortium to develop Bank Permata to become a leading bank in the future," Permata director Hans Theikul said.
StanChart and Astra currently hold 31.55 pct of a stake each in Bank Permata. They formed a 50-50 pct consortium last year to acquire a controlling stake in Permata from the Indonesian government.
