ATHENS (AFX) - Greek energy company PPC said it will participate in the privatisation tender of a Montenegro generation station and coal mine through a consortium it leads.
The other member of the consortium is USs ContourGlobal LLC which is a New York based energy, infrastructure and operations company, whose main shareholder is US private investment firm Reservoir Capital Group.
Brokers said the company is finally implementing its strategy of Balkan expansion after signalling in a recent management conference call that they were eyeing the Pljevlja 210 MW lignite generation station and coal mine in Montenegro.
Brokers added that PPC is also close to acquiring a 630 MW generation unit in Bulgarias Bobov Dol after a recent court win. However, today there were Bulgarian press reports that suggested the Bulgarian Privatisation Agency may once again block the process by appealing.
Analysts expect that PPC will also participate in the upcoming privatisation of energy assets in Romania and Turkey.
