LONDON (AFX) - British oil giant BP PLC's Lord Browne will personally recommend one person to succeed him when he retires in 2008, the chief executive told the Sunday Telegraph in an interview.
The board, chaired by Sir Peter Sutherland, will the make the final decision.
The group has always said it will look within to find a replacement. Candidates are thought to include Tony Hayward, the head of exploration and production, John Manzoni, who heads refining and marketing, Iain Conn, the group executive director, according to the paper.
It quoted Browne as saying a decision has not yet been made, and that he doesn't expect a choice to be made 'for some time'.
'It will be an internal candidate and I continue to work with the team to give them different experiences, to test them,' he told the Telegraph.
