PARIS (AFX) - The kidnappers of two German engineers taken hostage in January are demanding the release of all Iraqis held in US-run prisons and an end to any German help for the US and Iraqi authorities, according to a statement posted on the Internet Sunday.
'Know that if our two demands -- the release of all Iraqi men and women held in occupation prisons and a halt to all aid to Americans and their agents, including Shiites -- are not met, punishment will be meted out quickly,' a group calling itself Ansar al-Tawheed wal Sunna (Followers of Unity and Prophetic Tradition) said.
The statement was accompanied by a video showing the two hostages, both wearing beards, and a black banner bearing the name of the group. newsdesk@afxnews.com afp/hjp COPYRIGHT Copyright AFX News Limited 2005.
