FRANKFURT (AFX) - The Bundesbank now expects German GDP to grow 1.6 pct this year, slightly higher than previously expected, German weekly Der Spiegel said in a report to be published tomorrow, citing an internal Bundesbank study.
Bundesbank president Axel Weber last month predicted German GDP would grow by around 1.5 pct in 2006, up from a 0.9 pct growth rate last year.
Meanwhile, sources told dpa news agency that the German government plans to raise its forecast for economic growth this year to 1.6-1.7 pct from its earlier estimate of a 1.4 pct growth rate. newsdesk@afxnews.com dp/jfb/cml COPYRIGHT Copyright AFX News Limited 2005.
