LONDON (AFX) - Banco Santander Central Hispano is in exclusive talks to acquire Alliance & Leicester PLC in a deal worth more than 6.5 bln stg, according to a report in UK daily newspaper City AM.
The report, which cites no sources, said SCH returned to the negotiating table after a rival 5.8 bln stg offer from Credit Agricole was rejected by A&L.
