FRANKFURT (AFX) - Toyota Motor Corp is examining the possibility of building a manufacturing plant in Europe, according to AutomobilWoche, citing company sources.
It said start of production is planned in five years at the latest, adding that the budget for the plant has already been internally approved.
Annual production capacity is around 100,000 passenger cars, the report said.
Germany and France are being considered as a possible production site, it added.
A Toyota spokesman based in Brussels described the information as 'speculation', Automobilwoche said.
The spokesman said he would not want to exclude the possibility that a plant in Europe would be built in the medium to long term but that there are currently no such plans. marilyn.gerlach@afxnews.com mog/ak COPYRIGHT Copyright AFX News Limited 2005.
