LOS ANGELES (AFX) -- Storage and security software firm Symantec Corp. late Thursday said it filed a lawsuit against Microsoft Corp. , alleging the world's largest software company misappropriated Symantec intellectual property and breached a contract between the two firms. The legal complaint, filed in federal court in Seattle, relates to Symantec's Volume Manager product, which it acquired through its purchase of Veritas Software last summer. Symantec asserted that Microsoft misappropriated the technology by licensing the product. Symantec claimed Microsoft improperly incorporated the technology into its upcoming Windows Vista operating system. The suit aims to force Microsoft to remove Symantec intellectual property from its operating system products. Symantec is also seeking 'proper' compensation. This story was supplied by MarketWatch.
