LOS ANGELES (AFX) -- Microsoft Corp. late Thursday said claims made in a lawsuit filed against it by Symantec Corp. are 'unfounded' and without merit. Microsoft said the suit, filed in Seattle, stems from a 'very narrow disagreement' over the terms of a contract with Veritas Software to license its Volume Management software. Symantec bought Veritas last summer. Microsoft asserted that it purchased the intellectual property rights for 'all relevant' technologies in the matter from Veritas in 2004. 'We are confident that our actions are wholly consistent with the legal agreements between Veritas and Microsoft,' the Redmond, Wash., company said in a statement.
