
SAN FRANCISCO (AFX) -- Dell Inc. on Wednesday showed off a set of new personal computers the company said would expand its moves into the consumer entertainment market. Speaking in Los Angeles, Dell officials unveiled a new, 20-inch widescreen portable PC, a redesigned XPS 700 gaming desktop computer, and a new notebook that is pre-loaded with eBay Inc.'s Skype Internet communication software. Dell also showed off a new 24-inch widescreen monitor that the company is marketing to high-end gaming and video-editing customers. Dell has recently made several moves to build up its consumer market sales, such as its acquisition of high-end computer maker Alienware and its plans to open new retail stores.
