IRVINE, Calif. (AFX) - Kia Motors America on Thursday said U.S. auto sales rose in May on increased demand for the company's Spectra, Optima and Sportage models.
The Seoul, South Korea-based automaker said sales totaled 26,494 units during the month, up 3.9 percent from 25,510 a year ago. A stronger performance from Spectra and Optima sedans and Sportage sport utility vehicles buoyed results.
Adjusted to reflect one additional selling day, May sales fell 0.3 percent.
So far this year, sales have risen 2.7 percent to 119,135 units from 115,991 units.
