BILLERICA, Mass. (AFX) - GSI Group Inc., a maker of laser-based semiconductor manufacturing systems, said Tuesday it named Sergio Edelstein as chief executive effective July 10, to replace Charles D. Winston, who is retiring.
Edelstein most recently worked as group vice president of the e-beam and films product division of KLA-Tencor Corp., a semiconductor production equipment maker based in San Jose, Calif.
Winston, who was GSI's chief executive for 18 years, will remain on as a consultant until 2008.
Shares of GSI rose 9 cents to end at $9.47 on the Nasdaq, before losing 12 cents in aftermarket activity.
