PARIS (AFX) - The Moroccan government is considering the purchase of 12-18 Rafale fighter jets from Dassault Aviation, according to Wednesday's La Tribune.
The proposed deal would be financed by Saudi Arabia, the newspaper said.
Quoting sources within the industry, La Tribune said the Moroccan government is keen to reinforce its air fleet, particulary as Algeria has recently purchased 60 Russian jets.
Such an order would be the first export contract for the fighter jet, Dassault having failed to sell the planes to the Netherlands, South Korea and Singapore. Further negotiations are in progress with Greece and Libya, the paper said. newsdesk@afxnews.com afp/jc1/jfr COPYRIGHT Copyright AFX News Limited 2005. All rights reserved.
