TEHRAN (AFX) - Iran will next month host a conference on security in Iraq gathering representatives from Iraq's neighbours, Egypt, the Arab League and Organisation of the Islamic Conference (OIC), Iran's foreign minister said.
'The cooperation of these countries on Iraq and security issues will be on the agenda,' Manouchehr Mottaki said in a joint news conference with visiting Iraqi Shiite leader Abdel Aziz al-Hakim.
'A clear message will be sent from this meeting, in that these countries support the implementation of security in Iraq,' Mottaki asserted, adding the meeting was slated for July 8-9 in Tehran.
He gave no further details on the conference, except to add that Arab League Secretary General Amr Mussa and the head of the Organisation of the Islamic Conference (OIC), Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, were expected to attend.
