WARSAW, Ind. (AFX) - Orthopedic implant maker Zimmer Holdings Inc. said Friday the Justice Department's antitrust division subpoenaed company documents as part of a criminal investigation.
The subpoena seeks documents going back to January 2001, pertaining to a probe of possible violations of antitrust laws, including those involving the manufacture or sale of orthopedic implant devices.
Zimmer said it could not comment further on the reason for the subpoena. In a statement, the company said it intends to fully cooperate with authorities.
Shares of Zimmer fell 7 cents to close earlier at $63.03 on the New York Stock Exchange. News of the subpoena sent shares down in after-hours trading, falling $2.03, or 3.2 percent, to hit $61 on the INET electronic exchange.
