NEW YORK (AFX) - International Water-Guard Industries Inc. on Tuesday sued Bombardier Inc. in a patent dispute over a potable water system for aircraft.
In its claim, IWG says Bombardier infringed on a Canadian patent and seeks an injunction that would prevent Bombardier from using the technology in its products and for unspecified damages and compensation.
IWG says a device identified in the claim as the Bombardier Apparatus, made under contract by Goodrich Corp. for Bombardier, violates its patent. The Bombardier Apparatus has been installed in aircraft such as the Global 5000 and Global Express XRS business jets.
Montreal-based Bombardier is Canada's largest aerospace company and one of the world's largest manufacturers of small jets and propeller-powered planes. IWG, based in Burnaby, British Columbia, specializes in water treatment systems for aircraft.
