HOUSTON (AFX) - ExpressJet Holdings Inc. said Monday its ExpressJet Airlines, which operates as Continental Express, saw June traffic climb 17.6 percent.
The airline said June revenue passenger miles grew to 948 million in June from 806.3 million in the same month of 2005. One revenue passenger mile equals one paying passenger flown one mile. Capacity rose 9.4 percent in the month, to 1.15 billion available seat miles.
ExpressJet also said it filled 82.4 percent of seats in June, an increase of 5.6 percentage points over last year.
In the year to date, ExpressJet's traffic has grown 20.2 percent from the year-ago period to 5.05 billion revenue passenger miles, as capacity rose 11.7 percent to 6.44 billion available seat miles. The airline filled 78.3 percent of seats versus 72.8 percent a year earlier.
Shares of ExpressJet rose 17 cents, or 2.5 percent, to close at $7.08 on the New York Stock Exchange.
