COLUMBIA, S.C. (AFX) - The mouse a teenager says he found in his salad at a Ruby Tuesday restaurant in Spartanburg, S.C. may have been put there as a prank, a spokesman for the restaurant chain said Friday.
A 17-year old boy said he found the mouse in his 'spring mix' salad. Since the incident Sunday, the restaurant, which is supplied ready-to-eat salad items from a distributor, has said it was not to blame for the rodent.
Health officials shut down the popular salad bar after the incident, but did not find any evidence of mice infestation.
Ruby Tuesday has more than 800 restaurants nationwide.
The company's shares fell 24 cents to close at $23.40 on the New York Stock Exchange.
