WEST KINGSTON, R.I. (AFX) - American Power Conversion Corp., maker of power protection and management systems for computers, said Tuesday that President and Chief Executive Rodger B. Dowdell, Jr. has retired.
The company's board appointed Vice President Rob Johnson interim president and CEO. Dowdell will continue to serve on the board and will be non-executive chairman.
The search has begun for a new president and CEO.
Dowdell, 56, has been with American Power for over two decades, guiding it from a small startup to a company with more than $2 billion in annual revenue.
Johnson has been with American Power since 1997, when the company he founded, Systems Enhancement Corp., was bought by American Power.
Shares of American Power closed up 29 cents at $16.96 on the Nasdaq.
