ALEXANDRIA, Va. (AFX) - Michael Baker Jr. Inc., the engineering unit of Michael Baker Corp., said Friday that a bid protest challenging a Federal Emergency Management Agency contract awarded to the company has been dismissed, and all of the eligible bids submitted for the contract will be reevaluated.
In June, Baker said that FEMA had awarded it a five-year program management and individual housing inspection services contract worth up to $750 million.
Later in the month, Baker said it had been informed by FEMA that Parsons Brinckerhoff's Alltech Inc. unit had filed a bid protest with the Government Accountability Office and that FEMA had invoked a 'stop work order.'
FEMA now plans to reevaluate Baker's proposal and those of the other two offerors deemed competitive. The stop work order is expected to remain in effect until the reevaluation process is complete, Baker said.
Shares of Michael Baker Corp., a provider of engineering and operations services, closed up 8 cents at $22.28 on the American Stock Exchange.
