DENVER (AFX) - Specialty chemicals manufacturer MacDermid Inc. on Tuesday said it would consider an offer by its chief executive and a private equity firm to acquire the company for $32.50 per share.
Chairman and Chief Executive Daniel H. Leever and Court Square Capital Partners bid to purchase all of the company's roughly 30.8 million shares outstanding. Joseph Silvestri, who sits on both the MacDermid and Court Square boards, is also involved in the offer.
MacDermid's stock surged $3.35, or 11.6 percent, to close at $32.17, then added 13 cents in after-hours electronic trading.
The company said it would create a special committee of its outside directors to consider the proposal.
