(AFX) - Wall Street marked a second straight session of losses on Thursday, sparked by profit warnings from several homebuilders. Comments from San Francisco Federal Reserve President Janet Yellen about the housing slowdown and the central bank's ongoing inflation concerns offered investors little comfort.
The Dow Jones industrial average dropped 74.76, or 0.66 percent, to 11,331.44.
The Standard & Poor's 500 index fell 6.24, or 0.48 percent, to 1,294.02.
The Nasdaq composite index dropped 12.55, or 0.58 percent, to 2,155.29.
For the week:
The Dow is down 132.71, or 1.16 percent.
The S&P is down 16.99, or 1.30 percent.
The Nasdaq is down 37.87, or 1.73 percent.
For the year:
The Dow is up 613.94, or 5.73 percent.
The S&P is up 45.73, or 3.66 percent.
The Nasdaq is down 50.03, or 2.27 percent.
