Closed Ontario Truck, which Ford retained. (It has since become part of Ford Oakville Assembly, in Oakville, Ontario, where Ford builds the Freestar and Edge and Lincoln MKX).
Closed Edison Assembly, Edison Township, N.J. (Sold to developer).
In 2005:
Closed Lorain Assembly, Lorain, Ohio. (City awaits announcement of a buyer).
In 2006, announced:
Atlanta Assembly, Hapeville, Ga. (Idled in October 2006).
Batavia Transmission, Batavia, Ohio. (To be idled in 2008).
Essex Engine, Windsor, Ontario. (To be idled in 2007).
Maumee Stamping, Maumee, Ohio. (To be idled in 2008).
Norfolk Assembly, Norfolk, Va. (To be idled in 2007).
St. Louis Assembly, Hazelwood, Mo. (Idled in March 2006).
Twin Cities Assembly, St. Paul, Minn. (To be idled in 2008).
Windsor Casting, Windsor, Ontario. (To be idled in 2007).
Wixom Assembly, Wixom, Mich. (To be idled in 2007).
A Ford contract with the United Auto Workers prevents idled plants to be closed and sold before September 2007, but idled means production is stopped. Ford plans to end production at 16 facilities by 2012.
