TOKYO (XFN-ASIA) - Softbank Mobile Corp has decided to bid on new frequencies for cellular communications services that the Ministry of Communications plans to allocate as early as this summer, the Nikkei Business Daily reported, without citing sources.
The ministry is expected to award frequencies to two or three companies in the 2.5GHz band, the report said.
Rivals NTT DoCoMo Inc and KDDI Corp, as well as a cable television industry organization and local governments, have already expressed interest in receiving frequency allocations, it said.
