TOKYO (XFN-ASIA) - Softbank Mobile Corp experienced fresh system malfunctions yesterday, leading to the suspension of new customer applications at some shops, the Nikkei reported, without citing sources.
The order-receiving system that links each store with Softbank Mobile headquarters failed at around 5 pm yesterday, apparently because of a shortage of processing capacity, the business daily said.
Softbank Mobile, a member of the Softbank Corp group, saw higher-than-usual customer traffic because it was the first weekend after the company started accepting orders last Tuesday for a new rate plan offering a low monthly basic charge of 980 yen, it said.
In late October, a system glitch led the firm to temporarily stop taking applications to switch carriers under the number portability scheme.
