TOKYO (AFX) - JFE Steel Corp and Hyundai Steel Co have entered negotiations on a possible comprehensive alliance, including sharing technology for making high-grade automotive steel, the Nikkei reported, without citing sources.
As a first step, JFE Steel will provide technology for building and operating blast furnaces, then help construct and manage mills, the business daily said.
Due to its technological tie-up with JFE Steel, ThyssenKrupp AG could also assist with building blast furnaces, it said.
JFE Steel and Hyundai Steel could form a capital alliance, the report said.
