SYDNEY (AFX) - Rinker Group Ltd, under an 11.7 mln usd takeover bid from Mexico's Cemex SA, said it has made two more acquisitions in the US as it continues to play a role in the consolidation of the North American construction material industry.
It said it has acquired quarry, other aggregates assets and four concrete plants from JR & Sons Ready Mix in Utah as well as Union Concrete Co Inc, which operates three concrete plants around Knoxville in Tennessee.
The company did not disclose the cost of the acquisitions which together with other recent acquisitions have added 3.6 mln metric tons of aggregate and 300,000 cubic meters of concrete to Rinker's US subsidiary Rinker Materials' annual production output.
Rinker's board has rejected Cemex's hostile bid of 13 usd a share or about 16.81 a share.
Rinker's shares last traded at 18.26 aud.
