TOKYO (XFN-ASIA) - Victor Co of Japan Ltd, known as JVC, plans to increase worldwide sales of consumer-grade video cameras with built-in hard disk drives to 2.1 mln units in the year to March 2008, up 40 pct from the current fiscal year, the Nikkei Business Daily reported, without citing sources.
The company will release next month the world's first consumer camcorder able to record in full high-definition image quality, the newspaper said. It is expected to sell for around 200,000 yen in Japan.
With the release of the new model, JVC is aiming for a 50 pct share of the global market for video cameras with built-in hard drives, the report said.
