CYPRESS, Calif. (AP) - Mitsubishi Motors North America Inc. on Tuesday said sales volume rose 22.3 percent in March on increased demand for its sports utility vehicle and sports coupes.
The Japanese automaker sold 12,536 units last month, up from 10,250 a year ago. Adjusted for an additional selling day in March 2007 versus a year ago, sales volume rose 17.9 percent.
Mitsubishi said the gains were driven by a 20.9 percent jump in sales of its Outlander sport utility vehicle and a 5.1 percent rise in sales of its Eclipse sports coupe. Sales of the Eclipse Spyder two-door convertible more than doubled.
So far this year, sales volume has risen 23.2 percent.
