NEW YORK (AP) - Nasdaq Stock Market Inc. said Monday it had its strongest performance for initial public offerings listings in the just-ended first quarter since the first quarter of 2000.
The stock exchange said 42 of the 73 new listings it captured during the first quarter were IPOs, headed by National CineMedia Inc., the largest U.S. IPO so far this year.
Of the other additions, Nasdaq said 16 were upgrades from over-the-counter and pink-sheets exchanges, nine were exchange-traded funds, structured products and other listings, while six were switches from the American Stock Exchange.
Shares of Nasdaq slipped 12 cents to close at $29.55 on the Nasdaq Stock Market.
