MILAN (Thomson Financial) - Margherita Agnelli de Pahlen, the only surviving child of Giovanni Agnelli and mother of Fiat SpA and IFIL SpA deputy chairman John Elkan, is suing her father's most trusted advisors in order to have a clear and full picture of her father's estate which they manage, the Wall Street Journal Europe reported citing a copy of the suit filed yesterday.
The Agnelli family controls Gruppo Agnelli & C Sapa which has holding companies IFI SpA and IFIL.
IFIL in turn has some 30 pct of Fiat, according to market regulator Consob.
Margherita Agnelli is suing Franzo Grande Stevens, the family's chief legal advisor and a member of the board of Ifil, Gianluigi Gabetti, chairman of Ifil and a board member of Ifi, and Sigfrid Maron who manages private assets for the family from Switzerland, the daily said.
At 10.55 am, IFIL shares were up 1.34 pct at 8.195 eur, Fiat was up 1.68 pct at 21.15 while the S&P/Mib index gained 0.43 pct at 43,149 and the Mibtel was up 0.58 pct at 33,734.
The WSJ Europe said that Margherita Agnelli is not accusing the defendants of seeking personal gain from her fathers' assets but she claims that they have failed over the years to properly disclose the total value of the estate and where it is held. yael.schrage@thomson.com ysc/ejb COPYRIGHT Copyright AFX News Limited 2007.
