JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) - A cell phone tower worker fell 75 feet to his death Thursday, police said.
Nicholas Fischer, 21, of Mount Vernon, Ind., was on a cell phone tower and was holding onto a cable and a bracket when he fell onto the roof of a small building next to the tower, police said.
Fischer, 21, was an employee of Tower Reinforcement Inc., based in Evansville, Ind.
One of Fischer's coworkers told police he heard a click and then heard Fischer yell as he fell from the tower.
A man who answered the telephone at the company and refused to give his name said the accident was under investigation. He said employees working on towers wear safety harnesses.
The U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration was investigating.
