PARIS (Thomson Financial) - French finance minister Jean-Louis Borloo said he is prepared to leave that post to become environment minister, a post that has become second only to prime minister in the government of President Nicolas Sarkozy.
Borloo said in an interview with the daily Le Parisien he would consider the move a promotion.
He discussed the matter with Sarkozy yesterday after the government's first environment minister, Alain Juppe, resigned after failing to win a seat in Parliament in Sunday's election. tfn.paris@thomson.com mjs/jlc COPYRIGHT Copyright AFX News Limited 2007.
