STOCKHOLM (Thomson Financial) - AB Volvo said its truck division is investing 1.1 bln skr in upgrading equipment, and increasing capacity at its cab factory in Umea, northern Sweden.
The investment specifically relates to the plant's body-shop line where equipment up to 20 years old will be replaced allowing increased automation and flexibility.
'With regard to the very strong global demand on heavy trucks, there is a need to increase the production volumes at Volvo Trucks worldwide, including the Umea operation'.
