WOODCLIFF LAKE, N.J. (AP) - BMW Group said Tuesday its September U.S. auto sales rose on higher demand for passenger cars.
BMW sold a total of 16,457 vehicles, up 7.7 percent from 15,275 in September 2006.
Adjusted for one fewer selling day in September of this year compared with last, BMW sales rose 12.1 percent.
Sales of BMW brand vehicles rose 2.8 percent to 20,901. The increase included a 7.7 percent increase in passenger car sales to 16,457 and a 12.2 percent drop in sport utility vehicle sales to 4,444.
Sales of MINI brand cars rose 36 percent to 4,031.
So far this year, BMW sales are up 8 percent to 248,273 vehicles from 229,833 at the same time last year.
