FRANKFURT (Thomson Financial) - Dresdner Bank AG chief executive Herbert Walter said Germany should open up its whole banking system in order to allow its few domestic players play a role in Europe.
Speaking at the Euro Finance Week, Walter said he believed Frankfurt will not be able to match the same role London plays in the financial markets because, among other things, 'the size of the players we have are not part of the major league'.
'That's why for me the question is how do we open the whole banking system so that the five players here could play a role in Europe,' he said. marilyn.gerlach@thomson.com mog/lam COPYRIGHT Copyright Thomson Financial News Limited 2007.
